I have written a system which can act as an address book. It's fairly basic=
 (and not necesarrily fast to add to), and it doesn't use SQL (it uses XML)=
... but apart from that...

It's at http://sourceforge.net/projects/codsys/, and there's a (basic) scre=
enshot of it if you search for it on FreshMeat.

Oh, and BTW, it'll look terrible in Netscape 4. ;o)
