I would put it a bit stronger than that, but then I'm one of those dangerous 
Free Software radical types ;)

That doens't mean we shouldn't try. In fact, my point was that failing to put 
the point across could well be our undoing if the corporations successfully 
solve the technical issues, which is certainly not outside the bounds of 
possility, and we've only made the 'technical' case.

Not entirely. Sampling for use by DJs is one example. Another is the 
replication of works whose copyright has lapsed due to time.
