Not true. The author said "It turns out that the DVD drives in the systems
we tested see through Midbar Tech's copy protection"

The drives he tested. Not all drives. Mine for instance can't DAE rip the
cactus protected disks.

And didn't the article say that although he couldn't play the first track he
could in fact rip it? He got lucky in his hardware combinations IMHO.
