I guess the IsoBuster program has it's own device driver to access the 
hardware directly rather than going through the windows routines, which 
technically might make it in breach of the DMCA.

Also haven't seen it mentioned here, but apparently there are some programs 
that will detect which version of CD protection is being used at 
http://www.cdmediaworld.com/hardware/cdrom/cd_utils_2.shtml
