1. "SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - In an important Internet policy case, a
federal judge ruled Wednesday that Yahoo! Inc. does not have to
comply with a French order that it keep users in France from
seeing Nazi-related content on the Web site. "

2. "The issue was made relatively moot in January when Yahoo
banned hate-related items from its auction pages, though Third
Reich stamps and coins remain acceptable. The move was made
as Yahoo began charging users to make auction listings, and the
company did not want to profit from such material."

"In May, the rival Internet auction site eBay Inc. banned the sale of
Nazi items in hopes of avoiding legal problems overseas. Even
before that, users with French- or German-language Web
browsers were blocked from searching for Nazi-related items. "
