Are trading standards under any obligation to act on a consumer
complaint ? If so, then I'll certainly get back to them and insist on
some action.

Actually, reading the advice leaflet "Buying Goods" on their web-site
suggests giving them information for investigation under the Trade
Descriptions act if any goods are misdescribed. I'll probably try
again tomorrow.

In the mean time, checking out their site (www.tradingstandards.gov.uk),
I found a link to the Office of Fair Trading, which seems relevant to
this issue, so I've written an E-mail to them, focussing on the
standards and product descriptions side of things.

I've also heard back from my MP regarding an E-mail I sent to her
nearly three months ago regarding the Dmitry case and its implications
in the UK. Apparently, following my E-mail, she wrote to "Douglas
Alexander, Minister of State at the Department of Trade and Industry"
and has not received a response back yet, and is chasing it.
