I have a feeling that this case could have interesting and positive
(for us) implications.

Think about it: Mike Batt's recording contains exactly the same notes,
in exacty the same order, as in the Cage piece. Therefore, it's an
excerpt (or even the whole thing, played faster. As you will). However,
there are no notes, only rests.

If the Cage side wins, it will simply demonstrate, in a way in which
anyone can understand, how ridiculous the current copyright situation
is.

If Batt wins, on the other hand, because (for example) his silence
is written in 8/8 time instead of 4/4, or in B flat minor instead
of G minor (or whatever), it could destroy copyright in music -
because it's easy to transpose music into a different key, or
different (but compatible) time signature, without altering the
essence of the music.
