i think the main thing to clarify is what is meant by:
"The proposal for this directive is not intended to allow the patenting
of software which is not currently patentable"
currently the UKPTO is grantig patents which are in breach of art.52
EPC, and indeed Keith Beresford has published a book on how to obtain a
software patent in Europe by getting around loopholes in art.52.
perhaps this issue needs to be brought to their attention - that what is
'currently patentable' includes 30,000 swpats that are contrary to
European law.
