Sincerely, I don't know. The battle is more than one battle. For
example, the Article 11 of the Copyright Treaty (1996) has been signed by
people that have seen illegal copying and copyright protection system as
single easy/simple solution. The majority of these people use classical
media information for their own understanding of the issue. So this treaty
has generated DMCA, EUCD and clause on copyright protection in Cybercrime
treaty.
Yes, question of reverse engineering, playability and fair-use
(private copy) are really important. But the battle for that has to be
done for every legal framework[*] that creates instability for our
fundamental rights. Long-term education is also important.
I don't think there is only one important battle for fundamental rights
but there is a multitude of battle to protect Freedom and these rights.
Maybe the terminology issue is a long-term education and the
"copy-protection" issue is a day-day battle.
Just my .2 EUR.
