Shall we try watching it first ? Alternatively (!?) we could mount a
preemptive strike and see how many complaints we can get in before
they've even shown it. That should certainly convince them that we
have thoroughly considered the evidence.
By the way, I heard back from the ITC regarding my complaint about the
Sony minidisc advert. They said that normally issues with TV
programmes or adverts generate a large number of complaints, but I was
the only one who complained about the Sony advert. For that reason
they have decided to let it drop.
This seems to indicate that ITC complaints at least would benefit from
a volume approach.
Having everyone suddenly complain about the Sony advert now might seem
a little suspicious (and anyway, you'd have to watch out for it again,
as they ask for the time/date you saw it). However, this does suggest
a new hobby -- watching out for any TV advert that is misleading
regarding 'copy-protection' issues, and then contacting the ITC. For
example, this could include CD albums which are advertised on TV, and
which are sold with 'copy-protection', but which is not mentioned on
the TV advert.
