its surprising how many organisations will let you register with 90210
as the zip code... even if you pick Afghanistan as the country (first on
the list)....

i make a practise of doing this to avoid stats being collected on me and
my usage... i believe my copy of windows 98 might be registered in this
way too.. (couldnt possibly confirm... actually i've forgotten!)....
which i was glad of when i read about just quite how much MS is tracking
their users, it has been suggested for DRM purposes...
http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/archive/3177.html

speaking of such things... while rooting around in my copy of win98
(ick, yes, sorry... i have to use it for work!) i discovered a folder
called 'DRM' in my c:\windows directory... anyone know what this does? i
moved it to a 'safe' location... all the files inside were binaries
including a registry key... i'm not much up on the evils of regedit so
i'm a little stuck for finding it... but i'm curious to know what this
does - would it be a part of windows registration? or the Media player..
which up until the recent fiasco i had a copy installed, i then decided
to boycott it... i'm curious now, someone's obviously installed some
kind of drm on my machine...
