The Sony Spiderman CD doesn't support copying to PC or Mac. This is
the mail I sent to the people at Sony (sonymusiconline at sonymusic.com)
. I plan to keep sending these sorts of mails for *every* copyrighted
CD I want to buy: it is important to give as much feedback to the
record companies as you can.
(Furthermore, I mentioned the Vaio ad.)
----------
Hi,
After seeing the Spiderman movie, I really liked the music, and so
was interested to buy the CD. Imagine my surprise when I found out
that the CD doesn't play on PC or Mac. You should know that my Mac IS
my CD-player: I have iTunes installed on my PowerBook G4, and like to
rip CD's to hard drive, so I can have my music with me whenever I
travel. Also, as soon as I have made some money, I'd like to buy an
iPod so I can play my music on that while cycling or going to school
(I'm a graphic design student) -- all of these possibilities are now
ruled out because your CD doesn't support copying.
All of the things I mentioned: ripping the CD to my harddrive,
uploading it to my iPod, are all legitimate uses of the music I own,
yet you somehow prevent me from doing it.
Needless to say, I didn't buy the CD, and am now unable to listen to
the music. Ironically, one of your latest adverts (found on the back
cover of PC Plus of september 2002) sports "The new Sony VAIO
PCG-NV109M" and states: "Download and record music straight to
MiniDisc". What music? Oh yes, as it says: "your favourite tunes from
the web" -- hmm, that gives me an idea...
Kind regards,
