For those intending to come, or considering it:
A member of the Union Society may invite up to three guests [1], each of
whom must pay £3.
Members of the Union Society in Cambridge, Durham or Edinburgh may get in
without paying, but are not allowed to invite any guests themselves.
The debate happens to be in the Freshers' Open Period, when holders [2]
of Oxford University Bodleian Library cards can still get in free.
[1] - These guests may not be members of Oxford University, who are able,
and therefore expected, to join the Union Society for themselves.
[2] - Technically first years only, for the same reasons as [1]. I don't
know how closely they might be checking for non-freshers.
How-EV-er: If any event gets really crowded, then They may call `members
only'. This means that firstly, no more non-members are allowed in, and
secondly, if the congestion looks like staying high, they'll go around
evicting any non-members who have already infiltrated the grounds. As this
event is only the second debate of term, and the novelty won't have worn off
yet, it's quite possible that it will be crowded.
I hope all that made sense.
